Leonard Solomon matriculated from SA College Schools (SACS) in Cape Town and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1966. He was admitted as a partner in 1967 to a practice that merged with Gross Hendler & Frank in 1979. This firm subsequently merged with MGI Bass Gordon in 2010.

He has been engaged in many sporting codes. He presently plays bowls and is the immediate past-president of the Atlantic Green Point Bowling Club, having served as their president for five years.

He is married to Elaine and they have two children, Michelle and Janine. He is also the proud grandfather of five.
